Load Balancers

Distribute traffic across multiple servers with health checks and a dedicated public IP — each customer's load balancer runs on its own instance for isolation, rather than a shared multi-tenant pool.

Creating a load balancer

  1. Open Load Balancers → Create.
  2. Pick a region and a plan.
  3. Choose whether to use a floating IP (a reassignable public IPv4 you can move between resources) or a dedicated static IP.
  4. Add targets — the servers that should receive traffic — and a health check path/port.

Health checks

The load balancer polls each target on the configured interval; a target that fails health checks is automatically taken out of rotation and put back in once it recovers, with no manual intervention.

Floating IPs

A floating IP is a public IPv4 address you can move between servers or load balancers on demand — useful for failover (point it at a standby instance) or blue/green deployments (repoint it at the new version once it's ready). Manage floating IPs from Networks → Floating IPs.
